Scribes—The American Society of Legal Writers will hold its 2027 National Conference for Law Review Editors virtually on Sunday, April 4, 2027, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Pacific Time. This year’s theme is “The First 100 Days: Building a Successful Editorial Year.”
Designed for incoming student editors, the conference provides practical guidance on leading and managing a student-edited law journal. Scribes invites law professors, law librarians, current and former law review editors, judges, attorneys, journal administrators, publishers, and other experts to submit session proposals.
Scribes is particularly interested in programs addressing the following topics:
- The 100-Day Checklist for New Editors
- Building a Board That Functions Well
- Running Effective Editorial Board Meetings
- Substantive Editing Without Overstepping
- The Modern Cite Check
- From Student Note to Publishable Scholarship
- Publication Ethics for Student-Edited Journals
- Building an Articles Pipeline
- Publishing for Impact
- Effective Symposia
- Orienting New Staff and Board Members
Proposals are due by Monday, November 30, 2026. The planning committee will select presenters and assign session times in mid-December.
